Noel Gussen, designer of DECKFIGHTERS, discusses designing a game with multiple win conditions. Noel’s MMA style card game has lots of ways to win (and lose), so we talk through different ways to add multiple end-game triggers.
Ding Ding Ding! Recently we sat down with the creator of DECKFIGHTERS, Noel Gussen and got to experience first hand the fantastic game of DECKFIGHTERS.
Jason takes a look at an MMA themed game called DECKFIGHTERS. In this game players take on the role of an MMA fighter to try to get a K.O. or T.K.O. of their opponent.
“So how cool is this? Now you can have a full-blown MMA throw-down anytime, anyplace!... minus the usual stitches from the living room coffee table, of course”
"DECKFIGHTERS truly gives you the exhilaration of a real MMA bout minus the concussions and bloody knuckles."
"In my first experience with DECKFIGHTERS I can honestly say there were butterflies as all the possibilities became reality and once i had my cards in hand i hunkered down and made a plan
But like Mike Tyson famously said "Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."
"What I love about the game, is the tactical approach that is needed to set up combos or take a really poor hand and play it into a great hand. Also because I'm a martial artists, seeing the different technique cards and bonuses is fun."
”DECKFIGHTERS, is an MMA bout without the training and injuries! My son and I play together all the time and he loves it...and so do I.”
“Yo! This sh*t is real son!”
"A round of DECKFIGHTERS is how my girlfriend and I decide who has to wash the dishes."
After years of mixed martial arts training my kids age 9 and 11 love playing DECKFIGHTERS it allows them to use strategy in the game to play a sport they love and a lot less dirty laundry for Mom.”
“As a person who trained MMA for many years, DECKFIGHTERS is the only game that gives me that adrenaline rush that strapping on the gloves gives fighters. The depth of this game is incredible and it is an art of its own!”
